Each voice is individual and I approach teaching in different ways to suit the pupil. Lessons should be fun! I have taught complete beginners, actors wanting to develop their vocals, drama school preparation, degree students in professional training and all ages from 6 - 82!
I believe a classical technique and grounding is appropriate when developing a young voice. I am experienced in how to approach a contemporary sound, suitable for Musical Theatre and Pop vocals, and how to do this safely whilst hitting notes that can feel quite out of reach!
I have knowledge of the Estill Vocal Model and like to apply this to my teaching. I'm passionate about finding a secure voice - body connection and have a keen interest in vocal health. My yoga teaching and knowledge of anatomy supports this. I believe connection is key to performing and one of my favourite things to teach is acting through song.
Singing lessons are great for fun and as a hobby, but I also am used to preparing students for ABRSM, LCM Musical Theatre, LCM Pop Vocals and Rock School exams, should they wish.
Please get in touch for more information and we can discuss what sort of approach will suit you as the pupil.
I teach voice, privately in Brighton & Hove and am experienced at teaching online. I welcome any enquiries for private or group teaching. Please get in touch via the Contact Page.
Rosie has been teaching singing in a variety of contexts, to large groups, ensembles and individual students since 2011. Rosie is experienced in teaching all ages and abilities in a variety of genres. Rosie is experienced in teaching the Estill Vocal Model and promotes a healthy voice which stylistically suits the genre. Students have gone on to perform in the West End, attend top drama schools and conservatoires and achieve top marks in exams. Some students just enjoy finding their voice and Rosie encourages anyone to have lessons just to see what their instrument can do. Rosie has worked at a variety of schools and companies and currently holds positions as Leader for Singing Projects at West Sussex Music and as a vocal coach at Bird College.
Singing lessons are now also available online via Zoom or Skype. We're lucky that the voice is a versatile instrument that can really benefit from online tuition. Lessons run very similarly to face to face and it means that you can learn from anywhere in the world!
