Each voice is individual and I approach teaching in different ways to suit the pupil. Lessons should be fun! I have taught complete beginners, actors wanting to develop their vocals, drama school preparation, degree students in professional trainging and all ages from 6 - 82!
I believe a classical technique and grounding is appropriate when developing a young voice. I am experienced in how to approach a contemporary sound, suitable for Musical Theatre and Pop vocals, and how to do this safely whilst
hitting notes that can feel quite out of reach! I have knowledge of the Estill Vocal Model and like to apply this to my teaching I'm passionate about voice - body connection and have a keen interest in vocal health. One of my favourite things to teach is acting through song and how to approach the character of song.
Singing lessons are great for fun and as a hobby, but I also am used to preparing students for ABRSM, LCM Musical Theatre, LCM Pop Vocals and Rock School exams, should they wish. I have a 100% pass rate and 95% of my musical theatre students have acheived distinction.
Please get in touch for more information and we can discuss what sort of approach will suit you as the pupil.
I teach voice, piano and music theory privately in Brighton & Hove and welcome any enquiries for private or group teaching. Please get in touch via the Contact Page.
